Robert played the sport of Polocrosse for fifty years, being introduced to the sport as a fifteen-year-old and taking it back up as a twenty-year-old.
He was a member of the State Championship winning Ballarat A Grade side in 1980 at Sale, playing predominately his whole career with the Ballarat Club.
Rob played with the Corio Club enjoying the sport with his good mate Bones for a few years before returning to the Ballarat Club where he played an integral part in securing the new grounds at the Ballarat Airport.
Rob was the Victorian State Vice President and State Selector for several years and also State chief Umpire for two terms.
He represented Victoria in the Open Mixed Competition at the Benalla Nations in 1982, and was a member of the inaugural Masters Mixed Team at the Darwin Nationals, followed by the Albury Nationals where the Victorian Masters Mixed Team won the competition, Rob being awarded Best Number 1 and Best Male Player. He played at the Campden and Perth Nationals, then finally representing Victoria in the Masters Competition at the Ballarat Nationals in 2010.
Although his greatest joy was playing with each of his children, he was so proud when they each represent Victoria at Nationals, and Jessica representing Australia.
He was a wonderful advocate for the sport as he would tell any person who would listen; that Polocrosse was the Greatest Family Sport on Earth; it had taken him all around Australia and internationally.
Rest in Peace Big Jol
