Meet Polocrosse Victoria’s new President – Matt Morgan

President’s Address –
Welcome to the 2022 Victorian Polocrosse season.
As the incoming State President, I would like to thank Mick Templeton and Michael Schaffer as well as the previous delegates who tirelessly chartered the State through two playing seasons of Covid disruptions, including the preparation for the 2020 Ballarat Nationals, to then have them postponed at the last minute.
All involved were selfless with their time and commitment to our sport, enabling a smooth transition for myself and other incumbents.
The approaching 2022 season will not be without challenges as we progress as a State to host the National Titles Competition at Ballarat in late March. A dedicated Nationals Committee have been relentless over the last 18 months in ensuring the competition goes ahead. This has been a thankless task by those involved, and I put a call out to any potential volunteers available to assist with preparations prior to, or during the competition to contact myself or the Committee, as many hands make light work.
We are still seeking additional Nationals sponsorship, and every dollar counts.
If you have the capacity to sponsor or donate cash or goods, please contact myself or Katie Martin.
We have engaged a livestreaming facility to operate during the week of playing with advertising capability. We have several cost effective advertising packages available that will be reaching an equestrian audience of > 15,000 viewers per finals game.
This will be our opportunity to promote the sport we love at both a State and National level.
The 2022 season calendar has been confirmed, commencing with a “Soft Start” intrastate training days in December and January, with a focus on a safe, non-competitive pre-season work out.
This will be the ideal opportunity to invite fellow friends or family from your equestrian network to try polocrosse via blue bandage.
Invite your friends as new players are always welcome.  We all started by playing our first game.
2022 will be my 40th season of polocrosse, and I look forward to giving back to a sport that has given me such much pleasure over four decades.  It is one of the few sports where several generations of a family can play and compete together.
I quote a good polocrosse friend David Badior;
“The family that plays together stays together.”
Polocrosse can take you further and open more doors than you realise, expanding your social and business network nationally and internationally.  I was fortunate enough to take Polocrosse to Mongolia in 2014.
This experience created a social and business network of fellow horse lovers and Government officials in Mongolia that no other Global Corporation has been able to achieve.  Polocrosse is good for business!
I hope as many players as possible new and old can make our December and January training days as we look forward to getting back to playing polocrosse in 2022.  After nearly two years of Covid shutdowns I’m sure I’m not the only one who looks forward to getting on the road again and playing polocrosse.
On behalf of the Polocrosse Victoria, I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable season for 2022.
I am available any time electronically or by phone. Do not hesitate to call as I am open to advice and constructive criticism.
Regards
Matt Morgan
